So many times holidays like thanksgiving are celebrated while missing the entire point of the holiday. Thanksgiving is about being thankful. To make a thanksgiving celebration that everyone will be sure to remember do the following. Send out invites in advance asking that every member write down at least 20 things they are thankful for on a note card or piece of paper. Have someone research your family history and put together a slide show of your family describing your history.

Instead of doing the traditional family get together book a hotel conference room or something similar. You can also ask that everyone donate at least $10.00 for the event to help cover the cost of the room. You can have a pot luck or have whoever normally cooks put together a meal. If you collected enough money you can have it catered as well. Have at least some type of tasteful music playing in the background and decorate. Place pictures of the family all around the room, and have candles lit as well.

Get a master of ceremony preferable the oldest family member to preside over the events. So many times holidays are about eating and watching tv. The thanksgiving many of us are use too, isn’t really about getting to know our families or even our family history. So people travel all across America to be with our families. Shamefully all Thanksgiving amounts to is eating and watching tv. So many of us know who we are but we don’t know where we came from.

Plan some type of entertainment for the kids as well.
